Forpantanir á Grand Theft Auto VI eru á fullri ferð fyrir PlayStation 5 og Xbox Series X|S og forstjóri Take-Two kallar viðtökurnar „fordæmalausar og undraverðar“. Hér er staðan fyrir íslenska spilara: hvaða útgáfur eru í boði, hvað þær kosta — og hvar borgar sig að tryggja sér eintak fyrir 19. nóvember.
Forpantanir hófust 25. júní og fóru strax fram úr björtustu vonum. Greiningarfyrirtækið Newzoo áætlar að stafrænar forpantanir einar og sér hafi numið um 260 milljónum dala á heimsvísu fyrstu vikuna. Á uppgjörsfundi Take-Two 7. ágúst bætti forstjórinn Strauss Zelnick um betur: forpantanirnar væru „fordæmalausar og undraverðar“ og félagið gerir nú ráð fyrir 8,0–8,2 milljarða dala nettósölu á fjárhagsárinu 2027 — árinu sem nær yfir útgáfuna. Útgáfudagurinn 19. nóvember var ítrekaður enn einu sinni á sama fundi.
Tvær útgáfur, einn kaupauki — engin safnaraútgáfa
Leikurinn fæst í tveimur útgáfum. Standard-útgáfan kostar 79,99 dali og Ultimate-útgáfan 99,99 dali; sú síðarnefnda bætir við sérfarartækjum, vopnum og fatnaði fyrir aðalpersónurnar Jason og Luciu. Allir sem forpanta fyrir útgáfudag fá að auki kaupaukann „Vintage Vice City Pack“ — óháð útgáfu. Þeir sem söfnuðu styttum og stálboxum með GTA V og Red Dead Redemption 2 verða hins vegar fyrir vonbrigðum: engin efnisleg safnaraútgáfa verður í boði að þessu sinni. Zelnick varði jafnframt verðmiðann á uppgjörsfundinum og sagði leikinn hreinustu kostakaup miðað við umfangið.

Hvar forpantar maður á Íslandi?
Fyrir þá sem vilja eintak á diski eru Elko og Nexus hefðbundnu viðkomustaðirnir — báðar verslanir taka alla jafna við forpöntunum á stærstu leikjum ársins. Þegar þetta er skrifað höfum við ekki staðfest verðin hjá íslenskum söluaðilum. Miðað við gengi og venjulega verðlagningu á stórleikjum má giska á að Standard-útgáfan leggi sig á bilinu 13–15 þúsund krónur út úr búð, en það er ágiskun okkar — ekki staðfest verð — og rétt að bera saman áður en smellt er á takkann.
Stafræna leiðin er einfaldari: PlayStation Store birtir verð í íslenskum krónum fyrir íslenska reikninga og á Xbox fer salan í gegnum Microsoft Store. Stafræn kaup þýða að leikurinn forhleðst fyrir útgáfudag og er tilbúinn á slaginu — á móti kemur að diskaeintak má selja áfram eða lána, sem munar um þegar leikur kostar á annan tug þúsunda. Svo er ástæðulaust að örvænta: kaupaukinn fylgir öllum forpöntunum fram að útgáfudegi og stafræn eintök seljast ekki upp.
En heldur dagsetningin?
Eðlileg spurning áður en maður leggur út fyrir leiknum. Mike York, fyrrverandi hreyfimyndahönnuður hjá Rockstar (2012–2019), sagði nýlega að „nokkrar villur“ gætu enn frestað leiknum um hálft ár eða meira. Þau ummæli eru persónulegt mat hans, byggja ekki á heimildum innan úr fyrirtækinu og flokkast sem hreinn orðrómur — Take-Two ítrekaði dagsetninguna á uppgjörsfundinum og innherjar á borð við NateTheHate segja hana standa. Forpantanir í netverslununum má auk þess alla jafna afturkalla fram að útgáfu, þannig að áhættan er takmörkuð.
PC-spilarar þurfa aftur á móti að bíða. Leikurinn er aðeins staðfestur á PlayStation 5 og Xbox Series X|S og Rockstar hefur hvorki tilkynnt PC-útgáfu né vélbúnaðarkröfur. Sagan gefur vísbendingu — GTA V kom 19 mánuðum síðar á PC og Red Dead Redemption 2 tólf mánuðum síðar — og greinendur horfa því til 2027–2028. Það er þó hreinn framreikningur, ekki staðfesting.
Næsta tækifæri til að meta hvort Ultimate-útgáfan sé peninganna virði kemur fljótlega: Rockstar frumsýnir „Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look“ á Netflix fimmtudaginn 27. ágúst kl. 19:00 að íslenskum tíma — fyrsta stóra myndefnið úr leiknum síðan í maí 2025. Það gæti verið skynsamlegt að horfa fyrst og forpanta svo.

Pre-orders opened on June 25 and immediately outran expectations. Analyst firm Newzoo estimates that digital pre-orders alone reached roughly $260 million worldwide in the opening week. On Take-Two’s August 7 earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick went further, calling pre-order levels “unprecedented and astonishing” as the company guided net bookings of $8.0–8.2 billion for fiscal 2027 — the year that captures the launch. The November 19 release date was reaffirmed once again on the same call.
Two editions, one bonus — and no collector’s edition
The game comes in two editions. The Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99; the latter adds exclusive vehicles, weapons and apparel for protagonists Jason and Lucia. Anyone who pre-orders before launch also receives the “Vintage Vice City Pack” bonus, regardless of edition. Fans who collected statues and steelbooks with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 will be disappointed, though: there is no physical collector’s edition this time. Zelnick also defended the price tag on the earnings call, calling the game an incredible bargain given its scope.

Where can you pre-order in Iceland?
For a disc copy, Elko and Nexus are the usual stops — both stores typically take pre-orders on the year’s biggest releases. At the time of writing we have not confirmed prices with Icelandic retailers. Going by exchange rates and typical big-release pricing here, the Standard Edition could land somewhere around 13,000–15,000 krónur at retail — but that is our estimate, not a confirmed price, so compare before you commit.
The digital route is simpler: the PlayStation Store shows prices in Icelandic krónur for Icelandic accounts, and on Xbox the sale goes through the Microsoft Store. Buying digitally means the game preloads ahead of release and is ready on the dot — on the other hand, a disc copy can be resold or lent out, which matters when a game costs north of ten thousand krónur. And there is no reason to panic-buy: the pre-order bonus applies right up to launch day, and digital copies do not sell out.
But will the date hold?
A fair question before parting with your money. Mike York, a former Rockstar animator (2012–2019), recently said that “a few bugs” could still push the game back by six months or more. Those comments are his personal opinion, are not based on inside sources, and should be treated as pure rumor — Take-Two reaffirmed the date on its earnings call, and insiders such as NateTheHate maintain that November 19 holds. Storefront pre-orders can generally be cancelled up until release as well, so the risk is limited.
PC players, meanwhile, will have to wait. The game is only confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar has announced no PC version, storefront or system requirements. History offers a hint — GTA V took 19 months to reach PC and Red Dead Redemption 2 took twelve — so analysts are eyeing 2027–2028. That is pure extrapolation, though, not confirmation.
The next chance to judge whether the Ultimate Edition is worth the money comes soon: Rockstar premieres “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET — the first substantial footage since May 2025. Watching first and pre-ordering after might be the smart play.
